What kinds of people seek counselling?
There is no barrier to whom counselling can assist. You are welcomed, regardless of your culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or employment group. Counselling is also not just for adult individuals, but is beneficial for couples, families, teenagers and children.
Will my counselling sessions be confidential?
Yes, counselling sessions are confidential. The only exception would be if you were to pose a danger to yourself or others. This is discussed in more depth during the initial session and any questions on this can be answered.
What if I do not live local?
That is not a problem as session are conducted both online and over the telephone.
Online Counselling usually takes place via Zoom (but can also be done through Microsoft Teams and Skype). Once an appointment has been booked, I will email you with a weblink to join the session at our pre-arranged time. It will then take place in the same way as a face-to-face session.
With Telephone Counselling I will ring you at the pre-arranged time on the number you provide me with. Some clients also prefer Telephone sessions as they feel they can discuss issues without the pressure of sitting in front of someone or doing the session over video.
I know I need counselling but money is very tight. Could you still help?
If you feel like you would like to access counselling but money is tight then still do please get in touch. I am happy to offer a reduced fee (which we can negotiate between us) to ensure that this is not a barrier preventing you from engaging with support should you need it. It is more important for me to make sure everyone who wants counselling can access it than it is for me to have some extra money in my pocket.
How do I schedule an initial session?
There are various options you can use to schedule an initial appointment. You can book directly from my website by hitting the 'book counselling online' tab at the top of the page, you can also contact me by email, telephone or using the 'Get in touch form' on the bottom of this page. Please also feel free to contact me through social media. We will then arrange an initial appointment (either a face-to-face session or a telephone/online session).
The initial appointment will give us the chance to get to know each other a bit and enable us to further discuss how we may work together moving forward. This is a no obligation session and I would encourage clients to meet with a variety of counsellors to ensure the best fit for them.
How soon could I start Counselling with Me Time Therapy?
I am usually able to offer an initial session at fairly short notice - usually the same week that I am contacted by a client. I offer a range of appointment times/days so have flexibility to fit around clients' availability.
How long should I expect to have to continue counselling?
There is no standard length for your treatment - this will very much depend on your unique circumstances and needs. Six sessions are often recommended to begin with, however this may not be the same for everyone. We will take things one session at a time and if at any point you feel you would like to discontinue therapy for any reason, then this is of course fine.
Keep in mind that once you start sessions, new issues can arise that you may not have been aware existed - that you then want to explore. Or of course it is possible to also see improvements faster than expected.
